How to Make Your “Word” or “Theme” Manifest This Year…

photo(59)Happy New Year Gorgeous! I can still say that right?

It’s still January so my guess is, Yes. Alright, now that we got that sorted, let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?

At the end of 2013, I was playing around with my word-theme for 2014 and for fun I asked on Facebook what people’s word or themes were.

To my surprise there were hundreds of people playing with what their word or themes would be and we had a jamming conversation.

I even posted on Instagram and upped my game. For every person who shared theirs I’m donating $1 to Kiva. (Psst… I’m doing that today too!)

But what happens after you pick it. What are you supposed to do?

It’s easy to pick your word or theme then not know what to do next to manifest it. If you didn’t decide on what your word or theme is yet, I got you covered. It doesn’t matter if you did it over the new year or not because you cannot do this wrong. Yay for that!

First, if you did not pick a word or theme for 2014 then ask yourself what you’d like to cultivate in your life, the vibration you want to create at the end of the year or who it is you want to become. (Psst.. It can change over the year.)

All you have to do is write it down then sit with it. Look at it and feel the energy of it.

To help you with this I’ll share mine: My word for 2014 is WHOLENESS.

I have a few branches that come off this word to support it. FULLNESS, EXPANSION, GROUNDED, INCLUSIVE and GENEROUS. This is what felt right for me and what I want to cultivate in all areas of my life.

Tell me yours in the comments and I’ll donate $1 to Kiva. (This will support my branch theme of being generous.)

Best part is… You get to pick what is right for you.

Got your word or theme for 2014? Then let’s do this…

Here are your next steps to make your word-theme happen in 2014. Tweet that!

Please note, this is not serious business. This is not about getting it perfect either. This is for you to play with and enjoy creating in your life.

Instead of your word or theme just being a theory, you will make it a guiding energy you bring into your life. Cool stuff, right?

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

1. What will you STOP doing to support this word or theme?

Keep it simple and down to 1-3 things you can manage and do now and over the course of the year. Check in daily, weekly or monthly to see if there is anything else you want to release.

2. What is one thing you can do daily to help you cultivate this word or theme?

You may be ambitious (most of my community is) so if you want to do more, keep it to 3. There is power in the triad. You may want to check in daily, weekly or monthly to refresh and keep it alive.

3. How will you know when you are feeling, living or in it?

What signs will you see in your life that are ways to know you are on your path? This is meant to be fun and you can come back and update this whenever you want.

Then close your eyes and ask yourself what color does this word or theme have for you and say “Hello” to it. You can bring this color into your life to remind you. You may even want to write out the word-theme in this color and hang it on your wall to remind you.

This may help you out a bit. Here are my answers:

1. What will you STOP doing to support this word or theme? I will stop focusing on what I don’t have in my life. I will nurture the relationships I already have in my life. I will make it a priority to relax and do nothing.

2. What is one thing you can do daily to help you cultivate this word or theme? Meditate twice a day. Allow myself to meditate where I want to and release ideas of what it is supposed to look like.

3. How will you know when you are feeling, living or in it?  What signs will you see in your life that are ways to know you are on your path? I will notice joy in my life. I will be having more fun. I will have opportunities come to me that I want to be part of. I will hear more yes’s than no’s.

My color for my word-theme is a dark purple with plum streaks in it.

Now It’s Your Turn Gorgeous, Tell me Yours…

I’m curious to find out what your word or theme is for 2014 in the comments below.

You never know who will be inspired by your word or theme.

For bonus points tell me what your answers are to questions 1,2 + 3. AND you can even share your color too! Together let’s raise the vibration. (Remember when you comment I will donate $1 to Kiva.)

Putting it in writing will only help you manifest it even more and bring this energy into your life.

2014 is your year to make it happen and I’m grateful to be on the journey with you to see it manifest.

Your Angel of Fire,

  4. Yo Hillary, I am so grateful you asked this question, as I saw your FB post and jumped in on the conversation. My word for 2014 is Connectedness. What is truly brilliant and beautiful about this intention setting is how it is already making itself manifest in my life. I am going to stop living in my head with my thoughts and start sharing more with those around me. I am going to stop waiting for everything to be perfect before stating my position, and I am going to stop being the voyeur online and start engaging more.

We have a tradition at my house on New Year’s Day where we throw a party for our close friends; pulled pork, collard greens, black eyed peas, corn bread. It is such a beautiful tone to set on the first day of the year : it is all about connecting and giving. I am feeling more and more connected, not only to people, but to myself, my passion and my potential of possibilities.

Phew, that was a lot. And damn it feels good to share it with you, love.
    xo

    3. When I feel Luscious I feel effervescent, juicy, creative and alive.

  6. Love the 3 Qs … my word is “Creative”! In all areas .. work, self-care, relationships, self-expression, …

Color is also deep purple with flecks of grass green and deep blue.

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Awesome Alyssa! I love creative that is a word I love to live in. Your color rocks and an feeling you. This is your year to shine! xo

  7. ABUNDANCE! and the color is plum-purple, like yours!

  8. My intention for 2014 is RELEASED!

This encompasses so much for me, from relationships (especially my husband), business, and my personal evolution.

    1. I will stop shrinking back when faced with fear & doubt, and instead appreciate the awareness of this shrinking to signify a great opportunity to breakfast free.

    2. I will utilize my Sanctuary to get back to a more formal meditation practice and creative writing time. I will get out of the house more and be inspired by nature, friends, and contemplative space.

    3. I will know I’m there when I feel the freedom and expansion instead of any contraction.

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Hey Shauna! Love the word release and released. Love what you are going to stop and start doing as well as when you will know. This is your year to shine! YES!

    My word is money (red)
    1. What will you STOP doing to support this word or theme? I will stop feeling unworthy to have money.

    2. What is one thing you can do daily to help you cultivate this word or theme?
Look at a collage i will make to see the positive side of money and the things i want to use it for.

    3. How will you know when you are feeling, living or in it?
I will have an income, high enough to suport myself.

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Elizabeth I love how you are taking this one on for yourself. Way to go! I have a couple of questions… Do you mean Abundance or Prosperity? Or do you want your theme to be worthy to be prosperous? Just a thought.

  12. My word for 2014 is FOCUS and the theme is “focus brings freedom”. However, I think I need to add the word patience in here somewhere too because, thanks to our work together, I know I need to take more pauses, answer filter questions and basically be patient with myself (and the universe) when everything doesn’t come together as quickly as I’d like.

    1. To support my theme of “focus brings freedom” I will stop buying new personal development and business development programs in 2014. I bought a lot in 2013 and never completed any which left me more scattered than ever. 2014 will be different – I will complete the programs I do have and implement them.
    2. My daily support for my theme will be to restrict my social media time and unsubscribe from lots of email newsletters so I am no longer bombarded with so much “stuff”.
    3. The signs I will see will be a sense of calm and completeness because I have focused and therefore finally finished something. I will feel free rather than tied down by all these obligations I have put on myself.

The color for my year of FOCUS is bright sunshine yellow. (The color for patience is a pale turquoise green).

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Love, love, love, FOCUS for you Victoria. Patience is a great one to be a side wing of freedom. YES to completion – this is a good side wing too if it feels good for you. Your colors are wonderful and this is an awesome declaration. :) Yay you. xo

  13. My theme for 2014 is speaking the truth.

    What will I STOP doing?

Stop lying about “small stuff” (white lies) — honor the truth even when it’s not appropriate to express it. Stop keeping silent in a conversation when I disagree but am afraid of confrontation. Stop pre-judging what will give someone a favorable view of me before telling them more about who I am and what I do. Stop waiting for a better opportunity or the “right words” before I speak my truth.

Something I can do daily to cultivate it:

Journal daily to uncover and reconnect with the truth. Call a faraway friend every day.

How to know when I am feeling, living, or in it:

When I speak my truth, I am fully in the present moment, not casting my mind over the past or toward the future. I move through conflict with kindness and compassion toward others and myself. I feel at peace with how I’ve expressed myself and honored others in my communication. And when I screw up, I accept my fallibility and make amends as best as possible, without dwelling on my mistakes.

Happy new year, everyone! (As far as I’m concerned, new years’ greetings are appropriate for at least the first two weeks of January!)

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Yes Fiona! Love your theme… I love everything you are committing to and feel the focus you have. Well done. And thank you for clarifying about new years’ greetings. This is your year to shine! :)

  14. Jill Barber says:

My theme is PLAYFUL. Note: I’ve already changed my theme once this year so that’s a good sign that I really am ready to play and flow with what comes my way.

What will I stop doing? Delayed gratification – I can have fun first! Defining activities as “work” or “play” and instead allow my work to be fun and my play to be productive. Falling back on routine – it’s time to mix it up!

    How will I cultivate?
Try new things and/or find new ways to do the things I do every day (a new order, venue, etc.) Smile!!!

How do I know I’m living it?
My body feels open and I can take a deep, full breath.

My color is simply color (not black, gray or white). Adding a pop of color to my outfit or workspace or project makes me feel playful and free!!

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Love how your theme changed Jill and all the steps you are taking…. Curious the color as in a vibration color for this new space. Love how you are already embracing this. :)

  15. Hey Hillary, love this and your 3 questions :)

My word is PRESENCE, and it’s a beautiful light blue :)

    1. I will STOP projecting into the future as much as possible and try to just be in the moment.

    2. I can meditate daily to cultivate this sense of just ‘being’ and existing in the present.

    3. I will know when I’m feeling it because I’ll feel calm, centered, joyful and content. Fizzing with aliveness. My energy will be fully with me, in the moment.

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Hey Maria! Love that you love it lady. Love PRESENCE for you and your color. It’s a powerful vibration. Yes to your 1m2 and 3. This is your year to shine! xo

  16. My theme for 2014 is Flow to Flourish! I hadn’t thought about a color, but a pink into coral color is coming to mind.

    1. I chose the word flow while in restorative yoga class. My teacher described flow as getting out of your own way in order to allow things to happen. So I will stop getting out of my own way by working through limiting beliefs, cultivating confidence and taking steps, even if small, toward my goals each day.

    2. One thing I am doing daily is a morning grounding practice that includes some Balance essential oil on the bottom of my feet followed by breathing, grounding cords, protection and releasing (sound familiar). And lastly I ask a question and draw a card from on of my decks for a bit of guidance or perspective.

    3. Things will be getting done, progress made, but it will feel natural and unforced. I will feel authentic in my choices and gratefully abundant for the progress, the lessons, the healing. The Universe will respond with opportunities, connection and joy.

Thanks for the gentle push to dive a bit deeper into this…

My word for 2014 is HUMOUR aka as Amusement, Levity and Fun! The branches of support are to INFUSE, STRENGTH-EN, NOURISH AND EVOLVE, thriving forward with optimism and presence; stepping up to be my best self yet.

I will cultivate this space by leading from the heart, embracing not only “the funny” in life but the truth in life. I will represent the quality of ease and the freedom and choice to let go. I will also meditate daily, smiling; remembering always that laughter is good for the soul.

Orange will serve as the foundation of this space, defining enthusiasm, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement and stimulation. Yellow, the color of sunshine will also be infused to treasure the pure qualities of joy, happiness, intellect and energy.

The symbol I will see when I am in this space is the shape of a heart. When I am in this space, I will know that I am connected to the honour and heart-space of my core.

For this and so much more, I am grateful. And so it is.

  19. hi Hillary
    My word is ABUNDANCE

I see all the abundance that surrounds me.

I feel the abundance in my heart

    I receive abundance xx

  20. I chose AUTHENTIC and while it IS a bit of a buzz word and often over-used in the yoga world, it’s one I choose consciously.

I spent so much of 2013 under the hood of many wonderful programs, trying on different methods until I realized I HAD to do it my way.

And with that be able to mentor other women to trust enough to do it their way too.

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Shannon you are so on it with AUTHENTIC and how you are using it. The context makes sense and I’m thrilled for you. Rock it out lady. This is your year to shine!

  21. My theme for 2014 has evolved but under the same umbrella. Leadership. Branches on this theme are: Ownership and Thrive.
The color that came up for me is a blueberry + blackberry jam.

    1. I will stop waiting for magical moments or external situations to show up to validate my leadership and love. Focusing on doubt and things that hold me back. Asking for validation and answers outside of myself.

    2. Meditating on my decision and permission to be a leader of my life in all areas, connecting with my inner guide and grounding my role as a leader. Being fully present
Visualizing my desired outcomes, vision board.

    3. Feeling engaged, daring, courageous, confident, accomplished, committed. Being of value. Creating win win situations and completing my tasks. Flowing with joy and progress. Checking into my desired goals and feelings.

    loving my new beginning!!
    XOXO Vanessa

    • Hillary Rubin says:

Love it Vanessa… this is a great shift and I love how you are owning it. For your sign, what is something you will see that will show you that you are on your path. Maybe a bird or feather or getting green lights when driving. Enjoy this and love your new beginning too! xo H

  22. My theme/word is BOLDness. Stepping forth boldly, taking inspired action, consistently, without concern for outcomes, simply speaking my truth and knowing it is perfect.

And there’s a tie with TRUST. Taking the action and letting go, trusting all is well, I am supported on my journey/path. Releasing control. (it’s an illusion anyway!)

    Love to Beautiful, Hillary!

  23. Hi Hillary,
My word for 2014 is VIBRANT. I have spent the last four years feeling like a muted version of myself and through working with you, I’m ready to let that go. I’m ready to shine. Thank you!
